A Bride, A Groom and a Ring Bearer

'I love Carly!' How cute is this photo! Of course I'm a sucker for it, my daughter who is wedding planning right now is named 'Carly' so it's a definite thought! Now all I need is a good place to write on the ground!  If your venue has a spot for a photo like this it would make an interesting shot.  Turn your photographer onto my site, mark the photos you'd like replicated.  Easier than a vague description of what you want--for both of you.

He Saw Her And The Rest Was History -- All In A Photo

That first look! Melissa Young Photography got this great shot of the bride and groom as they are about to see each other...for the first time.  Kudos to Melissa!  Check out her great photography at this link.

If you're lucky enough to book well in advance you could snag Melissa as your wedding photographer.  Contact info is on her web site.  She can do your engagement shoot too so call now for memorable photos for any special occasion or photo shoot.

Tail Feathers?

Photo from Calligraphy by Jennifer on Facebook via June Bug Weddings.

What I want to know is does the bottom of that dress detach? Or doe she end up looking like she has tail feathers once it's bustled?

Find That Location!

When you're having engagement or wedding photos taken finding the perfect location to match the personality of the bride and groom is critical.  This photo of Clare and her fiance posted on Wedding Wire  are a perfect example! They're having an Alice in Wonderland theme wedding, so rabbits were particularly appropriate!

Do you have a photo of you and your fiance/groom taken at that perfect place?  Send them to my email and you may be featured on 'Wed Pics to Die For.'  Are you a photographer who found a great location for one of your bridal couples? Send those photos along as well, will be happy to credit your and link back to your web site.  Say Cheese!

Must Have Ring Photos

One of my favorite photos to look at in wedding albums are the photos of the bride and groom's wedding rings.  If the ring photos show great creativity and composition, then the rest of the photos are usually impressive as well.  What do you think?  Have you ever seen a great ring photo that you'd like to duplicate for your wedding day?  Which of the photos here is your favorite?

The photos of the rings on the rocks are my top pick of the ring photos I've seen lately. But I'm sure you have some ideas of your own.  Share them with us.

If you want a great ring shot in your album be sure to consult and plan with your photographer before the wedding.  Photos like the rings on the rocks will require special props that you probably won't find on sight at your wedding or reception.

Katie Bradford Orsborne's Photos & The Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia

Read The Wedding Queen's blog where Katie Bradford Osborne has written a great guest post.

Katie uses her photographic talent to benefit Women of Heart: Becoming Art For A Cause.  She is offering special mini workshops at a reduced price during the month of October to benefit the charity, The Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia.  This organization is dedicated to providing educations and support to those whose lives are affected by cancer.  WTG Katie.  These mini sessions would make a perfect gift for your groom.  An improvement over boring cuff links for sure!

See more of Katie's work and read more about the mini sessions she is offering by reading her guest post on The Wedding Queen's blog.  Also take the time to visit her photography web site.  You'll see more of her incredible talent as a photographer.

Mirror, Mirror...

Talk about fairy tale weddings... does this remind you of one?  Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?  Obviously on her wedding day it's the bride, shown here in a full length mirror being admired by her bridesmaids.  Photo from the Wedinator.

Trash The Dress?

Many brides today are following a trend of having a 'trash the dress' photo taken after their wedding.  Sometime after their wedding reception, sometimes the following day, these photos supposedly express the creativity of the bridal couple and the photographer.

But here's my question: WHY? You just spent a fortune on a gorgeous gown--you wore it once.  Why would you want to destroy it all for a fun photo?  Please brides, rethink following this trend and donate your dress or resell it, but don't just destroy it by spray painting it or rolling around in the mud in it.  I know some brides claim it relieves their wedding stress--there has to be a better way! Think about it.

Parasol Power

This photo is from The Girl Who Keeps Dreaming.  I love the creativity of the photo! Not sure how they managed to get the parasols all positioned and held in place...anyone with any ideas?

Another great reason to consider having parasols, even if your bridesmaids aren't carrying them as they walk down the aisle.  Fun for photos!

Boudoir Pic Deal by Groupon Philadelphia

73% off a Boudoir Shoot at Tommi Life Style Boutique through Groupon.com in Philadelphia.  While I'm not posting any boudoir shots (there are a few on their web site or on the Groupon ad, but I'd like to preserve my G rating for my blog!) suffice it to say these are artistically done.  So if you're in the market for some it's $119 dollar value (usually $435 dollars).  A nice savings if you are looking for some hot shots for your honey.

Tommi also does wedding photography, engagement shoots, studio shoots and head shots, so no matter what your photography needs Tommi can probably assist you.  Their expert stylists will show you how to look great on your special day.

Have A Bad Wedding Photo? Try This!

OK, when I first saw this I thought it was a joke...but no more!  Check out the before and after photos of this wedding below:
                                                                      BEFORE:
                                                                        AFTER

I love seeing the dramatic difference Brett of  FIXsuckyPIX can make in a photo!  Brett is a high-end fashion photo retoucher who can turn your uncle's less than stellar photos into awesome photos that make it look like an expensive professional photographer shot your photos.  Brett's philosophy is "life can really suck sometimes but your photography doesn't have to."  Even if your uncle is using an inexpensive point and shoot camera, Brett can make your photos incredible!  Sounds like a great business to be in...making people happy!  Now if he can take the ten pounds off .... Brett says he's not in the make people look better biz but he can do it--hmmm...but here's what FIXsuckyPIX can do for you:
  • We couldn’t afford a wedding photographer, but our friends got some great snapshots. Can you make them look more professional? (post processing!)
  • This photo would be cool, if it weren’t for all that distracting crap in the background (magic eraser!)
  • Take these two family shots and edit them into one shot where everyone has their eyes open and is smiling. (photo merge!)
  • This photo of us exchanging our vows would be awesome if the officiant didn’t look stupid, but she looks great in this other photo. (head-swap!)
  • Crazy shit like, “edit out my crazy drunk uncle and make my dress red” or “can you put my head on my dog’s body?” (crazy!)
  • A souped up profile pic or user icon (avatar!)
What else can Brett do? He can delete out the 'photobombers' in your photos.  See below:

If that guy isn't scary I don't know who is! But you sure don't want that mug in your shot with your husband! So have Brett take care of the problem!  Magic! The prices aren't bad either.  Head to his web page for more info.

And The Bride Wore...A Rosary? See Great Pics by Jose Villa

One of my favorite wedding blogs is Green Wedding Shoes.  Partly because I LOVE the idea of shoes that show you style (very trendy and personal) and partly because it is a blog that rocks! Great photos, great ideas...bookmark it, Green Wedding Shoes is a MUST READ!

While it's billed as a blog for modern brides in Southern California it is just as useful to brides across the country who want to have a unique look to their wedding. The post I'm currently in love with is a post with photos by Jose Villa featuring a great bride wearing a rosary from Waxing Poetic jewelry.  Not only is the jewelry and the dress etc. great, the photos were very well done by photog Jose Villa.  So bookmark Green Wedding Shoes so you don't miss any of their great posts!

The Resemblance Is Uncanny!

What do you think of the resemblance between these photos and pictures?  Doesn't Kate looks like Cinderella? Totally uncanny!  And if Fergie and Andrew's daughters aren't wearing shorter replicas of the evil stepsisters' gowns I'll, well I won't eat my hat because I don't wear one but you get the idea! What a funny coincidence!

Cute Kids At Weddings

Green Wedding Shoes posted this cute pic of a ring bearer who can barely bear to be there and a flower girl in her glory! So typical of the difference in attitude toward being in weddings between boys and girls!

Animals In Your Wedding?

Planning on having your pups at your wedding?  Finding formal attire for them isn't too hard.  Amazing huh?  Visit Doggie Clothesline's web site at the link above for everything formal for your dogs.  From tuxes to gowns and veils Doggie Clothesline can provide you with an option for every bride! So if man's best friend is his best man, be sure he dresses the part!

Are you a cat fan? Formal wear for your cat can also be found online.  Photos above found on Bridal Musings web site.  I fell in love with the feline in the top hat and tie! But dress your favorite feline anyway they will tolerate!

The Bride and Groom Were All Wet!

Splash back and relax! Not sure I could destroy my wedding gown this way, and if he rented that tux...there goes his security deposit! But it does look like fun! Photo posted on Calligraphy by Jennifer's Facebook page. Photo taken by Christofe-flers Photographies.

Upside Down!

Nancy Cohn Photography pulls off this great shot of the bride and groom with the bride kicking up her heels--literally! Fun photo shot! But if you're planning on this shot the brides better hit the gym and take off any extra pounds (or the groom could go too and bulk up those muscles!)

Kick Off Your Shoes & Jump on the Bed!

Love this bed jumping photo from the photographers Jeff and Lisa Photography via Facebook page of Calligraphy by Jennifer.  Have to admit I fell in love with this photo! Am a shoes off person and the idea of jumping up an down on a bed after a long wedding day--heaven!

Weather is Beyond Our Control but Artistry Is Not--Why To Hire A Photographer Who Is An Artist

Weddings and rain, yes it happens. So turning the photos into a thing of beauty is the mark of genius! Love the galoshes and umbrellas but the guy in the boat with the guts to stand up...incredible! For photo credits and more photos in the rain go to Enjoy Events.

Weddings That Swing!

I have to admit that some of my favorite pictures at weddings involve swings. Flower girls on decorated swings and now the groom on a swing or the bride and groom together. There's just something romantic about an old-fashioned swing! Especially one that is decorated for your wedding. To see more photos of the wedding featured in this post go to Green Wedding Shoes.

The Groom Wore Red

The groom wore red, socks that is. This great photo highlights the groom's sock choice.  These photos always make me smile, whether the groom is wearing argyles or other wild socks, these photos will make the bride and groom smile for years to come.  Just think, it's the one shot where no photographer had to say 'Smile!'  What color socks or other unique color accent are you planning? Share it with us and leave a comment.

The Equation of Love - A Memorable Save The Date Photo

Creative brides and grooms or their photographers can work together to create memorable photos, like the one above I titled "The Equation of Love."  The algebra of love is beautifully shown in this great picture and you could do a similar photo for your engagement shots or wedding day.  Anyone could make the plus, equal sign and the heart and tack them up on the rustic wall or a high fence for the same look this creative bride and groom put together with their wedding photographer.  This makes an easy DIY project that would look great on your STDs (Save the Dates) or to use as informal engagement shots.  You could even do the same set up for your wedding day as long as you have a venue that will allow you to tack up the signs or a parent, friend or neighbor willing to let you use their fence! I love creative brides, grooms and photographers! Photo link.

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words--Or Is It?

If you think your photos might not communicate quite what you want them to make some of these comic blurbs on a stick, just paint some cardboard cutouts with chalkboard paint and your guests can send you a message when they get their photo taken! Fun photo op for you and your guests! See Offbeatbride.com post under Jescia & Matt's Wedding Extravaganza.
Not shown in this pic are the two photos of the bride and groom's parents looking down with disapproval at the antics of their son and daughter...fun and funny!

Rings on Your Toes?

This adorable photo by Kelly Cardona Photography is a perfect way to display your rings in your photos if you have a baby you can beg, borrow or steal for a photo op! How many babies get to wear diamond toe rings?

Photobooth Winners!

Sometimes a photo booth gives some of the best photos of your guests!

Photo booth shots were some of the real winners at this wedding on Junebugweddings.com.  The bride and groom said "We had a photo booth that we filled with all sorts of kitschy tropical props for guests to dress up in, like a coconut bra, grass skirt, Hawaiian shirt, snorkel gear, pineapples, giant sunglasses, etc. It made for a lot of hilarity and so many funny stories the next day! It's so hard to pick favorite moments, once I get thinking about the day there were just so many!" Memories are made of this!

Venues Provide Great Backgrounds

I'm not sure which I love more, the photo of all the groomsmen gathering on the 2nd floor balcony or the gorgeous Victorian home where the photo was taken! Sometimes the venue provides the best background!

Jumping For Joy

Photo courtesy of  Southern Living Magazine

Give your groomsmens' look a lift with some colorful socks.  These yellow socks with their gray suits and black and white shoes make a real statement that these are NOT some stogy old men walking down the aisle!  Look for socks that have matching colors or patterns for the groomsmen and a similar color for the groom.  Then have your photographer snap a pic like this!

Looking for an unusual photo op? Not sure if many brides have the skill to pull this one off but what great photos!  This bride and groom are obviously very skilled on a board!

Steps Covered With Streamers

This birthday installation would be perfect for a wedding photo as well.  Get your guests involved in running the crepe paper down some steps for you, it would make some great pics!  You could do multicolored streamers like this photo or three different colors to match your wedding accent colors.  I just love it whan a plan comes together!
